Being a wedding photographer has given me some amazing opportunities. This hobby-turned-career has given me the chance to see some places I have never seen before. I’ve always wanted to experience Yellowstone National Park, but hey, it’s a long way from South Texas, and we just hadn’t had the opportunity to make a trip like that happen. But when one of my oldest friends from high school told me that she and her husband would be renewing their vows at her parent’s home – literally on the doorstep of Yellowstone – I jumped at the opportunity to capture their special day. And a special day it was. Kristen and Nick never got to have the wedding they always wanted. Fast forward several years, adding a couple of awesome kiddos, and a big move from Houston, Texas to Bozeman, Montana. Now they would get to have the celebration of their love that they had waited so long for. And I just couldn’t believe that Kristen would ask me to come and be a part of this special day!
All weddings that we shoot are special. For a stranger to ask you to record the most important day of their lives is a humbling experience. And I’ve been blessed to carry that honor many, many times. But this one was truly special. It had been 17 years or more since we had seen each other. Pulling up to their house that day and getting to hug an old friend, and picking up right where we left off was so awesome. Kristen, Nick, thank you so much for letting Mandi and I be a small part of your most special day. It was truly a breathtaking experience – one we will cherish forever. Your family and amazing friends were all so kind to us and truly made us feel like we were just part of the big family. Thank you so much for giving us the honor to record this special day for you. We are truly honored and humbled.
The weather on this September day was kind of crazy! It would go from cloudy to sunny in a matter of moments, and then a crazy storm blew through and created a little chaos, but everyone just adapted and kept having fun! Also, this was the first time that I have seen an elk crash a wedding. And that’s awesome!
